I could talk a lot about rain (journal entry)
I could talk a lot about rain, I mean, who
couldn't?
It's like knowing whether a book is new or old just by sniffing its
pages, book lover or not. I think it's part of our natural instinct to
appreciate the rain, as much as we appreciate the sun, or the flowers. I think
it is embedded in our consciousness on a deeper level; the essence of rain in
the history of agriculture, in different beliefs and traditions. A multitude of
songs, poems, works of art, and literature have used such theme as a central or
peripheral subject: the rain being a common and frequently used metaphor for
sorrow and despair; its power to bring out sentimentality with great ease; its
capacity to soothe and to destroy, to be loud or be soft; the magical tapping,
an ethereal beauty that have captured the souls of many.
I wonder why there are times it only
rains at night.
